A QVN has undertaken a 2 year college course and has passed written and practical examinations in veterinary nursing. QVNs are required to complete a portfolio which documents all areas of practical work within a veterinary practice. QVNs are qualified to take blood samples, monitor anaesthetics, take x-rays and assist the veterinary surgeons.
A SVN is in the process of undertaking a 2 year course and is either in their first or second year of training.
This is a nurse that has not yet started their college education and is gaining practical experience.
