Diagnostic Imaging
Radiology
Our radiology facilities allow us to x-ray your horse at the surgery where instant development of the radiographs helps us determine if further views or other diagnostic imaging modalities are required. However, if your horse cannot be transported, we can bring our mobile x-ray unit to your yard.
Ultrasonography
Our range of ultrasound scanners allows us to image soft tissue problems in a variety of areas, but especially tendon damage in the lower limb. The information provided is invaluable in enabling us to give accurate diagnosis, prognosis and recuperation time. We can also monitor healing and highlight any changes to the recovery programme that may be required. We also use ultrasound in pregnancy diagnosis and reproductive management or problems.
Endoscopy
By enabling us to visualize inside the nose, throat, lung and guttural pouch areas our endoscope allows in depth investigation of most respiratory and nasal conditions, as well as problems with swallowing. If necessary, samples can be taken from these areas to help with diagnosis and treatment.
Laboratory
Our laboratory facilities offer full biochemistry/haematology/urinalysis work up, with results available on the same day. Immediate results are essential in emergencies. Microscopy is available for examination of skin parasites, urine crystals etc. We also have access to a wide range of external laboratories, facilitating more specialised diagnostics where necessary.
